Funny to look back at this blog. Not that I've been writing many blogs from 2006 until now. Actually it seems like it's mostly been about Google. And that's alright. I saw there was something about Google Buzz which is dead...and about Waves too. Hope not G+ goes the same way

Blogger - The new design

I'm happy to see Google roll out the new Blogger design. That's about time :)
I especially love the dynamic view where the viewer can choose between different layouts. It gives the viewer a whole new experience and opportunities. It's much nicer to read blogs at Blogger now.

But at the same time as the new design is available I just started a new blog on my own site. Bu it is only in danish, so I will still use the Blogger universe for my english blogs.

Google+ launch

The launch of Google+ has not yet come. Only invites can get you there so far. And I've now at last got an invitation.
Google+ looks promising. It's like a mix of twitter, facebook without crap and leaves an more serious impression... more geeky? :)
Anyways, in Google+ you have a professional social network solution which are perfect for sharing.
One of the forces of Google+, is that you have full control on how to share stuff.

Here's a little overview of the features in Google+ right now.

Circles: Are the way to sort your contacts. When entering Google+ the first time, you'll find some standard circles to start sort your contacts in. You can make new circles and fully decide name and who you wants to put in the circles. For instance, you can make a circle called "interesting people" and you can follow some interesting people that you eventually never communicate with. That's where the similarity of Twitter can be found. Another example is if you use a circle called family, you can share your private photos or information, only for closest family.

Sparks:
Everyone got interests and in Sparks you can find news and interesting articles, blogs or anything sorted in your interest. I haven't yet found out precisely how it works, bur I think Google+ uses the Google search feature and RSS feeds implemented in Sparks. I have to use Sparks some more before I can say more about it, but it seems to work very good when you need to read more about a subject.

Hangouts:
It's a video feature, where you easily can share vlogs. I haven't tried it yet and I haven't seen anyone in my tiny network use it yet. So I really don'tknow how it works. But the idea is obvious.

G-talk:
The usual chat from gmail is implemented in Google+. But seems like it actually have nothing to do with Google+. You can chat with any of your Gmail contacts if they use G+ or not. But it's there :)

Tabs on your profile:
Beside the "Stream" that shows streams of your contacts, you'll find "About" which actually shows your public Google profile. Photos, that are directly connected to your Picasa web albums which have been improved a lot and implemented into G+. "Videos" where you can post any video. This is NOT connected to your Youtube account, if you have one. Of course, you can share any video from your Youtube channel, but if you want them permanently on G+, you have to upload them again. It could be better. "1+'s" which shows your 1+ button clicks from anywhere on the web. This is the easiest way to share cool stuff but it won't be posted in your stream. Your network have to go to your profile and look at your 1+'s to see it. But still, you can share it wider anytime you like. "Buzz" is Google Buzz. If you have an Gmail, and have Buzz activated, a lot of activity will be shown in this tab. It might be new life to the Buzz which can raise it from it's death.

Time to BUZZ?

Google did it again. This time integrated in Gmail.

But where will Wave enter the mainstream public? If not the already existing elements of the internet can take part in the Wave, it will never get so big as I thought.

And buzz....

The newest action from Google is Google Waves. It's still in beta and if you aren't invited you can't join.

As a Google freak like me, it's really tuff shit that I still haven't got an invite- Very disappointing!
